NATURAL FIBER
Also known as vegetable or cellulose fibers they have been used in packings longer than the man-made fibers.
Their chief advantage is their low cost.
They can be used in mildly acid and caustic applications and are generally lubricated with either PTFE or graphite.
Flax fibers are particularly resistant to water rot and highly suited for use in sea water applications such as stern tubes. They also have good abrasion resistance and are therefore well suited for use on slurry applications.
K13DL
Constructed from Flax fibres uniquely impregnated during manufacture with our DOULON® and mineral lubricants.
As Flax fibres are particularly strong and have good resistance to water rot, especially salt water, this packing is suitable for centrifugal and reciprocating pumps handling slimes and slurries which are mildly corrosive.
Will not harden or burn when used on high speed shafts due to the unique DOULON® compound lubricant and is the preferred compression packing for Stern tube and marine applications.
K4307
Constructed from a traditional Flax fibre and liberally impregnated with PTFE and mineral lubricants.
As Flax yarns are particularly strong and have good resistance to water rot, this packing is suitable for centrifugal and reciprocating pumps handling slimes and slurries which are mildly corrosive.
A preferred Stern tube packing within the Klinger range of compression packing.
A general, and in some cases specialist, valve and pump packing in the Pulp & Paper, Mining, Marine, Agriculture, Sugar and Water industries.
